what is usb type c connector?
As early as 2013 USB 3.0 marketing team announced the USB Type-C connector the new version of the interface that highlights slimmer design, faster speeds and more powerful power transmission.the Type-C port and connector are about the same size as those of the Micro-B USB mentioned above. A Type-C port measures just 8.4 by 2.6mm. With Type-C, both ends of a USB cable are the same, allowing for reversible plug orientation. You also don’t need to worry about plugging it in upside down as it will function both ways.
Since 2015, USB-C has been widely adapted and used in many phones and tablets, Almost all devices that support USB 3.1 use the USB-C port, such as macbook pro、lumia、chromebook、matebook and so on.
Insertion Force
The connector insertion force shall be within the range from 5 N to 20 N at amaximum rate of 12.5 mm (0.492″) per second. This requirement does not applywhen the connectors are used in a docking application.
It is recommended to use a non-silicone based lubricant on the latching mechanismto 30 reduce wear. The effects of lubricants should be restricted to insertion andextraction 31 characteristics and should not increase the resistance of the mated connection.
Extraction Force
The connector extraction force shall be within the range of 8 N to 20 N after thespecified insertion/extraction or durability cycles (at a maximum rate of 12.5 mm(0.492”) per second). This requirement does not apply when the connectors are used in a mechanical docking application.
It is recommended to use a non-silicone based lubricant on the latching mechanism to reduce wear. The effects of lubricants should be restricted to insertion and extraction characteristics and should not increase the resistance of the mated
connection.
Durability or Insertion/Extraction Cycles
The durability rating shall be 10,000 cycles minimum for the USB Type-C connector family. The durability test shall be done at a maximum rate of 200 cycles per hour and no physical damage to any part of the connector and cable assembly shall occur.
